About Justice Toolbox

We dream of bringing everyday justice to all Americans.

Although not always apparent, legal protections are involved in all aspects of our everyday lives. Laws protect us at work (employment), at home (landlord / tenant), when we're injured due to the fault of others (personal injury), and in our personal lives (divorce / child support), among other areas. Laws exist to ensure that everyone is treated fairly. But laws don't work when people don't know how to use them. Justice Toolbox aims to help everyday people use the legal system so that everyone can access the rights and legal claims guaranteed to them by law.

The legal system is complex and, in many cases, the best approach is for people to hire a lawyer. The information on this website will help you select the best lawyer for your case. Justice Toolbox analyzes millions of state court records using an artificial intelligence program to determine what types of cases each lawyer takes and approximately how often they win. Every case is different, and case outcomes depend on the situation (as they should), but we believe that consumers should have the benefit of seeing an attorney's public court records before selecting counsel.

Prior case outcomes are not everything. Some attorneys may lose more cases because they take cases that are harder, while attorneys who take easy cases may win more often. However, just as one would be wary of undergoing brain surgery from a doctor whose prior patients have all died, we believe that consumers should have some knowledge of the past activity of an attorney before hiring him or her. Often consumers will be able to discuss the case results reported on this site with the attorney to get more insight into the attorney's prior cases, beyond what we can determine automatically from court records.

Founding Story

The company founder, Bryant Lee, worked as a litigation attorney at a large law firm in Washington, D.C. At this law firm, it was a regular practice for attorneys to ask via company-wide emails for recommendations for good lawyers in various areas, usually for a friend or family member. These requests covered everyday issues such as divorce, car accidents, wills, and so on. Bryant realized that it was very difficult for people to find a good lawyer. Even other lawyers didn't necessarily know where to find a good lawyer for a different subject area.
